The quickest way to start selling on ebay in 2023

Let’s get right to it.

This is a tutorial for how to quickly list and sell your stuff on eBay.

If you haven’t already, head over to ebay.com and create an account.
If you’ve been on the Internet before, you know how to do this.

Great - now let’s start listing.

Instead of creating a listing from scratch (by clicking “Sell” at the top ofthe ebay homepage), let’s save some time and use the Sell one like this option.

Using Sell one like this

Chances are someone else on eBay has already sold the item you want to sell too. Let’s find it.

In the eBay search bar, type the name of your item and click the “Search” button. Then scroll down the page and toggle on the “Completed” and “Sold” filters.

Once you find a matching Sold Comp (as the kids call it) for your item, click the “Sell one like this” link on a desktop (see below) or after clicking a listing via mobile.

Doing so will open a listing page with a ton of information already filled in, including an appropriate Item Category, some Item Specifics, and more.

Scroll through and fill in (or correct) as much as you want or need. The more information, the better. Why? Because it boosts your chances for people to search for your product.

A few specifics:

Allow Offers

I almost always include an offer option under Pricing. It’s a way for buyers to let you know if your item is accurately priced. If you’re asking for way too much, you’d never know if the buyer didn’t have the Best Offer option.

Returns & Free Shipping

Resellers debate both of these topics constantly. Some think both or either pleases the eBay algorithms and the buyers too. It’s hard to say if they’re right, but do what’s right for your business.

I’d recommend keeping shipping simple with the Standard shipping option. Add your package weight and dimensions as best you can. Typically, I only use USPS for items less than 1-2 lbs.

Under Domestic Shipping, I always choose Calculated since postage can vary with how heavy the item is and how far it needs to go.

Other tips:

  • Writing better titles

  • Taking better photos

  • Pricing properly, using 95 and checking sell-through rate
