Thrift Store Sales

Junk Truck Sales

Wins

Inched out

Junk truck sales have been taking over. I was shooting for a specific goal and fell short. But the efforts are visible. I sold more locally and on FBM than ever before. And I inched out the $1,000 mark in terms of junk sales. Can’t complain when progress is being made.

Upsell it

You know what’s better than selling something to someone? Selling more to then. I was thrilled to upsell a customer this month. But, to be fair, she wanted to buy one thing from my FBM profile and followed up with more. She ended up buying a damaged Gucci bag, some Bontrager biking shorts, and a Monopoly rug.

Local sale!?

It happened by accident. I went to print the shipping label for an eBay sale and it was right in Hoboken - several blocks from me! I cancelled the shipping and walked it over. Small world.

Fails

Getting down on myself

Like I mentioned earlier, I fell short of a reselling goal. I wanted to see if I could make enough profit to hypothetically cover my entire monthly expenses, plus tax (~$2,400). By week 3, I knew it would have been a Hail Mary. And it was a psychological bummer. I thought more effort could mean more sales. But sometimes it doesn’t happen like that. Next time!

Going forward

Forget the slow dime, I need to focus on the fast nickel.

I’m still tolling away on the content of the junk trucks. To what end? I’m not sure. I’m trying to prove a point that money can be made. And plenty has. But I’ll be talking to Drew soon about the details of it all. Maybe he has some insight.
