Success! But how?
For reasons I haven’t quite teased out, I made some solid profit this month. More than $200 than February. At a glance, I think the average selling price jumped for quite a few items. But there was the boost of a few big wins, such as a poker chips auction, a brand new camera lens backpack, and finally flipping a soundboard I’ve had in my kitchen for YEARS.
Flipping junk
I started diving into the back of the junk removal trucks this month. And it’s been a wild success.
I took five trips down to dive in. About half were extremely fruitful. On one trip, I found a big collection of vintage Barbie clothes, which has already made more than $100. Another delivered a few boxes of jewelry and some giant brass giraffes. And another had a bit of everything. I don’t know what this customer did for a living or for fun, but I took home brand new yarn, animal hides, snowboard helmets, potting soil, a life jacket, and way more.
The best part is not only finding the items, but flipping them. I’ve sold a number of things already and with relative ease.
Needless to say, I hope this can become a regular thing because the profit is wild and, more importantly, the work is satisfying.
Storage
With the immediate success of flipping junk, I needed more space. Well, maybe I didn’t need it right away, but I thought it would be best to invest. I spent $140 to open a smallish storage unit and it’s already been wildly helpful. I’ve got a ton of flea market fare sitting in there for when the weather heats up a bit more. In the meantime, I’ll flip the other good stuff.

Stagnant social
I still haven’t put the effort I need into growing my newsletter. It’s been six months since I began writing every week and I haven’t yet broken 50 subscribers. I know it needs love and attention, but, right now, flipping junk is taking precedent. However, it does still help me stay disciplined to learning more. We’ll see what happens.
Going forward
I had a sit and thought about what would success look like six months from now?
Without a junk warehouse, I would need a way to process and flip all this stuff.
Returning to the Flipsharkdecor IG might be the answer. I can build a local audience of people willing to buy things.
In addition to the junk truck partnership, I’m working on building up my reputation.
In six months, I want to become a better source of information for resellers. I want to associate the Flipshark Figures brand with toy knowledge. How do I do that?
Grow my newsletter to 200 subscribers
Grow my IG audience to 1,000.
Build a library of 12 blog articles.
If I want to work backwards, what do I need to do in April?
Let’s start simple.
I need to share more on IG. It’s not enough to gloat about my Sunday Solds. I need to share every week. My plan is one bolo post, one spotlight or quiz story, and one email tease every week.
Plus, in order to meet my quota, I need to write 2 articles. I don’t know where to start but I have some ideas, so why not get to writing?
In May, if everything is going well, we can add in more. I can start making Reels or commenting on other accounts. I can re-design my website for more sign-ups. Or start seeing out thank you notes. Or running giveaways.
I think that’s enough for now.
Back to business!
